Well – I’ve Done The Easy Part

I started my December Daily – created a cover page and planner pages  I find it easy to start pages but if the project goes on too long I find it hard to finish them

I know the planner looks a little summery BUT our family Christmas gift is a trip to Costa Rica – can’t wait – never been.

Hello Fall

Cold, wet and lovely colors but there is already snow on the mountains behind us so winter’s not far away.

I found some metallic paper from DCWV and knew it would be perfect for some Fall projects. I took an embroidery frame, added some burlap, some misting and gold title and cut the leaves on my Silhouette.  The metallic elements made it hard to get a good photo but I think it turned out cool

It was inspired by a fun card sketch in Scrapbook Generation’s CREATE magazine and is in the September Issue

I added this to the Paper Issues How ’bout Them Apples link party

Been Craving Scrapping

I figured once we’d had our Christmas party I;d have lots of time to create. Unfortunately the next morning I got really sick with an extremely painful throat and ears.  Left it a few days to see if it improved but instead it got worse.  Finally made it to the doctor who diagnosed it as the flu !!  Can’t complain since I haven’t been really sick for about 20 years.   I’ve been slowly getting better but have had no energy to do anything.  Fortunately, the house was super cleaned for the party and there was leftovers for us to eat.  Today I plan to get back to scrapping.  Meanwhile – here is a Christmas project I created earlier in the month

I’m linking this up to Making It Merry at Paper Issues

Some Home Decor

Lauren has an assortment of altered canvases in her room and I wanted to create something to add to her collection.  Scraptastic club had a challenge for a home decor item but I didn’t know what to do.  I’ve been dying to try some encaustic (wax) canvases for some time.  Yesterday, Heidi Swapp had a video of a very simple creation using wax and tissue paper so I decided to give it a go.   There was one tricky moment when the tissue/cardstock got stuck inside my printer  but overall it was actually very simple and I love how it turned out, Now, I’m going to be trying adding layers of wax and colors and stamping.

For this I took an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of chipboard and covered it in Fancy Pants script paper.  I stamped the wonderful Kaisercraft butterfly stamp on the bottom RHS the TEchnique Tuesdays days of the week and some Heidi Swapp swirls in the other corners.  Then I misted with MAya Road and Tattered Angels mist.  Then I heated up some clear wax and spread it on top of my ‘canvas’

I created the butterfly and saying in PSE and printed it out on regular tissue paper (attached to paper so that it can go through your printer).  I placed the tissue images on my base and added more melted wax to hold them in place.  Later I went back and used my heat gun to even out the wax a little and added a few glitter pieces.

Wishing you all a Fulfilling New Year

Did you make any resolutions?  I’m following along with Ali Edwards’ one little word. This year I chose “Cleanse” –  as in purge my house free of all unused items and junk.  Refresh my mind, body and soul with good practices.  And in scrapping, use up a lot of what I have .  So, to help remind me of my 2012 focus I created this canvas.  I used up a lot of scraps and played around with mists, masks and stickles (Jenn has a big selection in the store).  I also added some modeling paste for texture

Here’s a closeup of the flower – handcrafted, again using several mists and topped off with some glittery stickles

I created this canvas using a selection of mists and stickles from the Scrapgal Store.  Come on over and join our challenges this month.  My Scrapgal January 2012 challenge is to pick a word to inspire you this year and create an object (doesn’t have to be a canvas) to help you focus on that word.  Have fun playing can’t wait to see what you come up with

Crazy Weather

Last weekend we had sheets of rain and 100 mph winds for 24 hours.  Practically all our snow disappeared leaving behind very icy driveways and parking lots.  Today we got 8 inches of snow – yeah – but WAIT !! – then we had more sheets of rain and 85 mph winds .  The snow started to melt and turn icy. My husband couldn’t make it up the driveway and the car slid into the ditch.  So all the family was out again shoveling and snowblowing.  Finally it’s clear but it’s now snowing again. Who knows what’s next.

So, today I had a chance to create a bunch of cards and tags for a 12 day challenge at scrapthat!

Halloween Decor

We love to play at Halloween and have lots of scary, gruesome, funny  decor items.  Her’s one I created yesterday

I started with a black metal wall hanging from Michaels. I added stickers – I used the remains after removing the glitter spider web stickers stuck onto paper to make new webs), I used glitter sticker letters and element stickers (skulls, fly and banner), I used chipboard sticker letters . From the Daily Junque dvd I printed out the finger onto Hocus Pocus patterned paper and cut out. Finally added some HP tinsel around the wire.
